Abstract

Nowadays, there are many problems in the world of education, one of which is the decline in morals. One way to improve moral decline is by hiding character, the teacher's role is needed in fortifying character so this article aims to describe how to trap the character of grade 3 students at SDN Mawar 4 Banjarmasin, the role of the teacher and what methods are used to hide student character. This article uses a qualitative method. The research informants were homeroom teachers and grade 3 students at SDN Mawar 4 Banjarmasin. Data collection was carried out through observation, application, interviews, and literature. Character building is done by applying 3 magic words, the word please is used when asking for help, the word sorry is used when making a mistake, and the word thank you is used when getting a gift at school. The teacher's role in character development in students is very important. Teachers at SDN Mawar 4 take 7 simple steps and carry out the habituation method in cultivating the character of the students at SDN Mawar 4 Banjarmasin. This the role of the teacher in applying these 3 magic words can build good character in children who are polite and courteous.
